Manaaki Tangata – Message from our Toihau (Chairperson)

Manaaki Tangata – He kōrero akiaki nā tō tātau Toihau a Shane Taurima

Maungaharuru-Tangitū Chair, Shane Taurima shares that “in turbulent and challenging times, we are reminded of what is important to us as whānau and hapū. He aha te mea nui o te ao nei, – he tāngata he tāngata he tāngata”.  It is all about our people – we want our whānau to remain safe, well and connected.

Manaaki tangata – look after each other, keep safe and check in with each other.  We know some of our older whānau, our pakeke and kaumātua might not be on facebook so we encourage you to think about who they are and find safe ways to support our whānau.

Oranga – we can maintain our wellbeing. Plan together as a whānau about how to support each other to be well – mentally, spiritually and physically.  When we are well, we are at our best.  As part of your oranga, plan about what you need to do as a whānau to keep safe – it’s okay to put a rāhui around your whānau.  Eat well and sleep well.  It is important to prepare your household and be ready in the event you need to stay home.

It is a good step to take leadership in keeping you and your whānau safe.

Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust will continue to monitor the pandemic and potential impacts for our whānau.

We encourage you to keep connected to up to date information and check in with each other – manaaki tangata.

Kia tau ngā manaakitanga o te wāhi ngaro ki runga ki a tātau katoa.

Noho ora mai.

Nā Shane Taurima
