Kelly May & Hayley Lawrence invite you to wānanga about a Taiao project they have been working on for Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust

The project explores how Cyclone Gabrielle reshaped our takiwā, and what these changes mean for our wāhi taonga now and into the future. The focus is on Te Ngarue and Waikōau – Arapawanui rivers, ki uta ki tai.
The wānanga will be held in person to support kōrero. An online StoryMap will be shared with whānau once the project is complete.
The project has been externally funded through MBIE Māori Determined Extreme Weather Fund, with co-funding from the University of Canterbury.

A strategy is being developed to understand coastal hazards risks and the management options for the coastline from Tangoio to Clifton. It is being developed by Hastings District Council, Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, Napier City Council, and groups representing mana whenua and tāngata whenua.
