As many of you will know, Tangoio was cut off from Wairoa and Napier due to washed out or unpassable bridges and debris on the Highway. Access to Tangoio via SH 2 was opened around Saturday 18 February. Because the roads to Wairoa (SH2) and Taupō (SH5) are still closed and will be for some time, there is a cordon near Bay View. If you are visiting whānau, the urupā or wanting to see the Marae (from the road) the contractors will let you through if you tell them you are going to Tangoio Marae.
If you come out to Tangoio, please park vehicles on the same side as the Marae (away from the pine trees opposite the Marae). There is a risk of damaged or weakened pine trees on the Tangoio South Block falling on the powerlines and your vehicle or you. Tangoio South is getting arborists to check the trees.
