Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi Project
Our Hapū whakatauākī for Lake Tūtira, “ko te waiū o ō tātau tīpuna – the milk of our ancestors”, refers to an abundance of kai and spiritual sustenance. Unfortunately, over a hundred years of sedimentation and pollution has affected the mauri of our taonga (treasured) lake.
Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust (MTT) has secured $644,000 funding for a two-year project to help improve the mauri and water quality of Lake Tūtira, its wider catchment of lakes and waterways. Read more…

Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa - Project Manager
Our Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa – Project Manager is Te Kaha Hawaikirangi (Ngāti Paarau, Ngāti Hinepare, Ngāi Tāwhao, Ngāti Māhu).
Te Kaha has experience working for the Department of Conservation on Maungaharuru and for the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. Te Kaha also works with his hapū to improve the mauri of his awa, Tutaekurī. We welcome Te Kaha as part of our team.
