The Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust has eight Kaimahi – Staff / Contractors:

  • Sally Crown (Kaiwhakahaere Whakapā – Communications Manager), and
  • Paul Hughes (Mātanga Hangarau – IT support).

James Lyver

Kaiwhakahaere Matua – General Manager

James has developed his professional career within various kaupapa Māori organisations and loves working with whānau.  He has Bachelor of Business Studies and Masters of Management from Massey University, with his final report topic was ’Exploring Māori values; Embracing Cultural Intelligence to improve outcomes in a changing New Zealand’.  Outside of the office, James has a strong connection to the outdoors, knows our Takiwā well and appreciates the role MTT play as Kaitiaki.  James is born and bred in Napier from within a Freezing Worker whānau.  He is an active father with his three boys and loves living in Napier.

Charmaine Butler (nee Taurima)

Ko Ngāti Tū, Ngāti Kurumōkihi ōku hapū, ko Tangoio tōku marae.

Ko Rongomaiwahine tōku iwi, Ko Tuahuru tōku marae.

Kaiwhakahaere Tari – Office Manager

Charmaine was born and bred in Tangoio.  She has worked tirelessly for MTT as Administrator for four years.  Her role has changed in this post-settlement phase, and she is now Office Manager.  Charmaine has experience in administration and finance, is a current Trustee for MTT and has recently resigned as Marae Chairperson.

“My vision is to have a healthy and wealthy hapū.  To have extensive support available for our kaumātua, and good direction for our tamariki.”

Dayna Peterson

Ko Ngāti Tū, Ngāi Te Ruruku ōku hapū, ko Tangoio tōku marae.

Kaimanaaki Tuhituhi – Office Administrative Assistant

Dayna grew up here in Napier and has worked in the background for the trust since 2017, aiding all staff and contractors across MTT.

Hayley Lawrence

Nō te iwi Pākehā ahau. Nō Ngāti Tū, Ngāti Kurumōkihi, Ngāi Te Ruruku tōku whānau. Ko Tangoio te marae.

Kaiwhakahaere Taiao – Environmental Manager

Hayley’s partner (Rangitane Taurima) and their tamariki are from our Hapū of Maungaharuru-Tangitū.  Hayley has worked for MTT as Project Manager and Communications Manager.  Hayley’s current role is Kaiwhakahaere Taiao.  Hayley works part-time as she cares for her two young tamariki.  She has a PhD in Conservation Genetics and a Diploma in Arts (Māori Studies).

Sally Crown

Nō Rereahu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa tōku iwi. No Ngāti Apakura te hapū. Ko Miringa te Kakara, Mōkai Kāinga, Mokai ngā marae.

Kaiwhakahaere Whakapā – Communications Manager

Sally is originally from Te Rohe Potae (King Country) and has a high level background in corporate communications, community development and business development. She owns her own consultancy business and works part-time for Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust overseeing the communications for our organisation.
