Marae-opoly Workshop this Saturday 11 March 2017, 9:30am – 3:30pm, Tangoio Marae.
We’ve looked at some of the Marae whānau priorities and aspirations; have a better understanding of the past, present and future flooding challenges at the current Marae site; identified different options for the Marae; now it’s time to put some strategies together.
On Saturday you’ll be introduced to Marae-opoly – a game NIWA has developed to help test a range of options for the Marae (including Marae upgrades, flood protection options and developing at a new site).
In playing the game you’ll be forced to make some decisions about what you’ll invest in, what risks you’re willing to take and what trade-offs you’re willing to make.
No decisions will be made as a result of playing the game on Saturday, but we hope that it will help identify some possible strategies that should be considered further.
There are lots of different elements to the game to get your head around. Some of the information is available for you to look at in preparation for the hui on Saturday (click on the blue links):
- Marae-opoly Instructions: Describes the game, all of the gaming elements and how to play;
- Options Menu: Describes the different options that you can choose from including pros and cons and upfront and maintenance costs (there is also a quick reference options menu).
