Rā Whakamaumahara - 100 year memorial service for Taiamai Mihaere

10am Saturday 9 December 2017, Tangoio Marae

Taiamai Mihaere was killed in Ypres on the border of Belgium and France during World War 1 on 9 December 1917. He is listed on the Honours board at our marae and there is a large stone memorial for him at the urupā (he is buried in Belgium). There will be a memorial service for him Saturday 9 December 2017

  • 10am Pōwhiri at Tangoio Marae
  • Service at Urupā in front of the Mihaere Monument

  • 12pm Lunch (please bring a plate of kai to share)

Tomoana Food Hub AGM

Whānau are invited to the Tomoana Food Hub AGM at 2:15pm. There will be a tour of the site afterwards, then at 3pm a taonga carved by Uncle Bevan for one of the buildings will be unveiled. The Food Hub is located on Elwood Road, Hastings. Marae Options Hui-ā-Hapū

The Committee invites and encourages whānau to attend the hui to hear an update on progress. Options being considered will be introduced and we will discuss and seek feedback on the process of confirming the future for our Marae. We will also talk about the voting process in November and what to expect from that.

Tuku Whenua

As part of the Cultural Redress in our Treaty Settlement, four Reserves will be returned to our Hapū. We will then gift these reserves back to the people of Aotearoa, NZ. To commemorate this gift there will be events and activities running from Saturday 14 January 2017 to Wednesday 18 January 2017.
